Swaan Valley Agriculture

Sudan's legacy as an agricultural powerhouse dates back thousands of years. With its fertile lands along the Nile, the country has long been a centre for cotton cultivation, sesame farming and gum Arabic production.

Our cotton farms in Sudan and Tanzania are managed using eco-friendly techniques, ensuring soil conservation, efficient water use and ethical labour practices. Our focus on sustainability extends from seed to final product, embedding responsible agriculture into every stage of our supply chain.

The Cotton Lifecycle

From Field to Fabric

Soil Preparation & Planting

Cotton seeds are carefully selected and sown in the fertile lands of Sudan and Tanzania. Sustainable irrigation and soil enrichment techniques ensure strong yields.

Growth & Cultivation

Pest-resistant strains and organic fertilisation techniques improve cotton quality while preserving natural ecosystems.

Harvesting

Cotton is handpicked or machine-harvested depending on location, with Tanzanian farmers traditionally using handpicking for finer fibre preservation.

Ginning & Processing

Our ginning plants in Sudan and Egypt separate cotton fibres from seeds, ensuring high purity and minimal waste.

Yarn Production

Cotton is transformed into different yarn types, supplying textile industries worldwide.

Our Diverse Crops

Alongside cotton, we also cultivate sesame, gum Arabic, groundnuts and watermelon seeds, all produced under responsible agricultural frameworks to promote soil health and biodiversity.
